FameLab Finalists 2019

FameLab 2019: Elbrich Postma

Elbrich Postma

Elbrich Postma is neuroscientist by training. Currently, she works as a PhD candidate at the department of Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University. Her research is about the effect of changes in the sense of smell and taste on the brain and eating behaviour. Her research includes several patients populations and uses behavioural testing and MRI. Elbrich is interested in using her knowledge to improve the quality of life for patients. She loves the outdoors and is a leader of Scouts.

FameLab2019: Daniel Reyes Lastiri

Daniel Reyes Lastiri

Daniel studied Chemical Engineering in Mexico and did a master in Sustainable Energy at TU Delft, followed by an internship in building aquaponics systems across several places in the Netherlands. The challenges faced there led him to do some deeper research as a PhD on mathematical models of aquaponics. He now works in Precision Farming, implementing math into farming systems for a better use of resources.

FameLab 2019: Hizirwan Salim

Hizirwan Salim

Hizirwan Salim is a Biomedical Engineering student and works at Aryzon. The primary role of Hizirwan is to create valuable healthcare solutions with AR. The two research areas he is active in are physician-patient communication and Parkinson. Besides his passion for tech and healthcare, he is also a University Innovation Fellow, which is a Stanford University program. He supports the innovation and entrepreneurship on the campus. Next to this, he plays guitar and loves making photographs.

FameLab 2019: Jens Wehner

Jens Wehner

Jens works as a Postdoc at the TU/e Eindhoven in the math and computer science department. His younger colleagues describe him as “simple” and “mostly not funny”. Most colleagues address him as “Jens” or “you”, although he would love to be called “Dr. Wehner”, as he will defend his thesis soon.  Before he started writing computer simulations at TU/e, he worked at the Max Planck Institute. A happy, lively group of his friends from acting classes immediately quieted down when asked about him.

FameLab 2019: Anouk Willems

Anouk Willems

Anouk Willems is currently a PhD student at the University of Groningen. After finishing her master’s in Biomedical Sciences in Groningen, she continued with her PhD into the effects of dietary patterns on general physical and mental complaints and the gut microbiome. She has always been interested in food and health and everything that comes with it. In her free time she likes to spend as much time as possible on the athletics track, mainly sprinting and long jumping.

FameLab 2019: Dan Jing Wu

Dan Jing Wu

Dan Jing is a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Her research focuses on the development of supramolecular responsive biomaterials for 3D printing. She has a broad interest; from a scientific career to running a fashion company (NOYA NOIR) and has a passion for science communication. She is one of the ‘Faces of Science ambassadors’ for The Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences, where she communicates science through public-speaking, blogs and vlogs to motivate new generation young scientists.
